Within IEC 62656 series this part 3 describes methods and formal mapping with regard to transformation of subject matters in the IEC CDD (Component Data Dictionary) into CIM (Common Information Model) ontology in order to provide interoperability for a wide scope of standard ontologies. The dictionary IEC CDD comprises all electro-technical products and services. CIM is currently the standardized ontology for smart grids. Hence this interface specification results in a variety of data as material, envrionmental, logistics, product life-cycle information to become available out of other kinds of standard ontologies for technical use.
